Age of Lord Shiva

Age of Lord Shiva

Lord Shiva is considered immortal. However, Holy Scriptures prove that life span of Lord Shiva is finite. Similar is the situation with Brahma and Vishnu. All three gods i.e Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma are in birth and death.

What is the Age of Lord Shiva

Age of Lord Shiva and age of Lord Vishnu is calculated by taking the Age of Brahma as a base unit. Age of Brahma is considered to be 100 "Divine years".

Calculation of Age of Brahma

  • The duration of one day of Brahma = 1000 (one thousand) chaturyugas. Similar is the duration of one night of Brahma. Duration of full day is therefore 2000 chaturyugas.
  • One chaturyuga = 43,20,000 years (forty three lakh twenty thousand years or 4 million 320 thousand years).
  • One year or Brahma is or "One Divine Year" = 2000 x 30 (days) x 12 (months) = 7,20,000 chaturyugas = 3110400000000 earth years (3 trillion 110 billion 400 million years).
  • Age of Lord Brahma is 100 years. Age of Lord Vishnu is 7 times the age of Lord Brahma and Age of Lord Shiva is 7 times the age of Lord Vishnu.

Life Span of Lord Shiva

Age of Lord Shiva is 49 times the age of Brahma. Therefore, the age of Shiva is 49 x 100 "Divine years" = 4900 Divine years = 15240960000000000 earth years

  • 15 quadrillion 240 trillion 960 billion years (Shiva's age in English numbering system)
  • 15 Padma, 24 Neel, 9 Kharab, 60 Arab years (Age of Shiva in Indian numbering system)
