Bhagavad Gita Chapter 16 Verse 1

In Bhagavad Gita Chapter 16 from Verse no 1 to 3, the characteristics of those pious souls have been mentioned who, in previous births, used to do Worship of Brahm or Kaal by reciting "Om" mantra according to the Vedas, or used to do worship of Supreme God after obtaining it from a Tatvadarshi saint but could not attain liberation. When those individuals again obtain a human birth, then they possess the following characteristics.


Gita 16.1

अभयम्, सत्त्वसंशुद्धिः, ज्ञानयोगव्यवस्थितिः,
दानम्, दमः, च, यज्ञः, च, स्वाध्यायः, तपः, आर्जवम्।।1।।


Gita 16.1

Abhyam’, sattvsanshuddhiH, gyaanyogvyavasthitiH,
Daanm’, damH, ch, yagyaH, ch, swaadhyaayH, tapH, aarjavam’ ||1||

Translation: (Abhayam’) fearless (sattvsanshuddhiH) complete purity of inner-self (gyaanyogvyavasthitiH) knowledgeable (ch) and (daanm’) charity (damH) self-control (yagyaH) performance of yagya (swaadhyaayH) study of religious scriptures (tapH) penance in the form of bearing hardships in the path of bhakti (ch) and (aarjavam’) submissiveness. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 16 Verse 1

Fearlessness, complete purity of inner-self, knowledgeable and charity, self-control, performance of yagya, study of religious scriptures, penance in the form of bearing hardships in the path of bhakti and submissiveness.
