Satnam in Sikhism | Information from Pran Sangli, Janam Sakhi

Information about Guru of Guru Nanak Dev Ji from various scriptures of Sikhism including Pran Sangli, Janam Sakhi Bhai Bale Wali.

Pran Sangli - a collection of banis of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The book named “Pran Sangli”is a holy speech uttered from the respectable mouth of Shri Nanak Sahib ji, which is the nectar speech of Mehla Pehla. In “Pran Sangli” Part-1, on page 1, there is a heading named “Aavashyak Suchna” (Important Information). In this, it is mentioned that Shri Nanak Sahib ji had said to King Shivnabh of Singladeep – “This book is my body, it is form of my gross body. It is a cover of the collection of my life breaths; it is a bridge of the world-like ocean. I have given this Praan-Sangli to you. It is an ever-lasting object, which only you have obtained. This Praan-Sangli is a stream of nectar. It has entered into your mouth only OR it has been uttered by your mouth only; no one else in the three worlds can keep it safe. Therefore, keep this Praan Sangli like life-breaths.”

It is also written on first page “Aavashyak Soochna” (Important Information) of ‘Praan Sangli’ that a special request was made to King Shivnabh, who was the king of Singladeep, that “this book is my body, my gross form. It is the bridge to cross the ocean of world. Keep it safe.”

The fifth guru of Sikhism, Shri Guru Arjun Dev ji, while binding the Guru baani, sent a disciple named Bhai Paira to Singladeep to get this book (Praan Sangli) from the grandson of King Shivnabh. When Shri Arjun Dev ji saw that in it the naam (Satnaam) "of two words" is clearly written, then not considering it appropriate to include this book ‘Praan Sangli’ in the binding of Shri Guru Granth Sahib, Shri Arjun dev ji immersed the entire book in the water.

Then on request of an affectionate sadhu, Guru Arjan Dev Ji allowed the entire book to be taken out of water which is in our hands today.
