Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1

Introduction – There are 47 verses in Holy Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1. Out of these only 2 verses (1:24-25) have been said by Shri Krishna. Rest of them have been said either by Sanjay or Arjun.

Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1 is the opening chapter of knowledge of Holy Bhagavad Gita by Shri Krishna. It sets the scene where two armies of Kauravas and Pandavas with their supporters are placed against each other in the battle field of Kurukshetra. Mighty warriors are lined up on both sides to exhibit their valour and bravery. Some are bound by relation, some by friendship and some by their ideology. Shri Krishna is on the side of the Pandavas having pledged not to wield any weapon thus becoming a charioteer for Arjun. Arjun seeks the refuge and advice of Shri Krishna at this crucial point where his intellect forces him to denounce the war. Shri Krishna then imparts the knowledge of The Bhagavad Gita to Arjun.
